We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists as a Senior Arts Support Worker.

Bindi Enterprises is a unique community service provider offering a range of supported employment opportunities and training for local people with disability. The Senior Arts Support Worker role is to provide person centred support to adult artists in the workplace, which enhances their quality of life and creates workplace solutions that are flexible and innovative while generating income for People we Support and the organisation. Experience and skills in fine art are desirable.

In addition, some of the duties include:

  • Supervising the day-to-day activities of the service and motivating the people we support
  • Implement individual and group programs that assist people to develop artistic and creative skills
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as NDIS and Support Coordinators to ensure best outcomes for the people we support
  • Prepare consignments for galleries
  • Assist curating and hanging exhibitions
  • Take customer sales over the phone, email and in the gallery
  • Prepare and maintain art materials
  • Assist in marketing the organisation and Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artists in the local area
  • Use of Social Media and the Bindi Mwerre Anthurre Artist Website to advertise and promote the Art Studio and Artists
  • Create a workplace environment that reflects the needs, culture and aspiration of the people we support
  • Be prepared to assist with personal care needs
  • Actively participate in team meetings and work closely with the Art Coordinator and other Art Support Workers

Make It Matter - What you will bring to make a difference in other's lives

We’re looking for a people-person, an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills with a real passion for supporting people in the community!

  • Previous experience supporting people with a disability and/or challenging behaviour, preferably in an education or employment environment
  • Knowledge of local community networks, training and employment opportunities
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and relate well to people we support and their families
  • Background in various categories of Art
  • Computer literate with competent administration and documentation skills
  • First Aid certificate, Ochre Card and full unrestricted driver’s licence
  • Certificate III/IV in Disabilities, Community Services, Social Sciences, Youth Work will be highly regarded although not essential
  • Degree or similar qualification or experience in Fine Arts is preferred
