Are you truly passionate about supporting people? Do you want to make a real and tangible difference to someone's life? As a Support Worker in our organisation, you'll be doing just that. It's a challenging role and you'll need to be resilient but the reward for your hard work will come with the knowledge that you have provided a safe, consistent and secure home for a Child or Young Person. 

You will be joining our Child & Family Services team working in our Residential Services at Tennant Creek. These are often long-term placements and services operate 24hrs/7 days a week. As such, Support Workers will need to be available to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night and sleep over shifts. 

Our Support Workers are strong positive role models who are responsible for a wide range of duties including emotional/behavior support, health, incident management, personal care and hygiene, transport, education, community access, cooking and domestic duties. You will help, guide and support the Children and Young People to develop independent living skills while ensuring all of their day to day care needs are met. This includes the implementation of clear routines, structure and positive behavior support practices and strategies.

If you're able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other services, and you have experience working with Children and Young People who have experienced complex trauma backgrounds we'd love to hear from you!

Essential requirements:

  • A strong understanding of trauma informed care, childhood development and person centred support
  • Experience providing direct care to Young Children who have experienced complex trauma backgrounds and display difficult or challenging behaviours
  • Full unrestricted NT Driver’s license
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Ochre Card (NT Working with Children clearance) and National Criminal History Check clearance
  • Available and willing to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night and sleep over shift
